iBoss Filter Installed for More Secure, Accessible Internet

posted Sep 8, 2014, 6:44 AM by Nick Hopper
A new iBoss internet filter was installed on 9/5. A network engineer from MDE and personnel from Howard Technology were on site to ensure a smooth cut over from our old internet filter. The transition was seamless with minimal internet outages on 9/5.

The new upgrades will make the internet more secure for our students. It will also give the district more capabilities to allow teachers to use media rich content, such as youtube, safley during classroom instruction. The new filter allows the district to take our current internet speeds to full capacity at 100 Mbps, which was not possible with the old filter. As with all new technologies, growing pains are expected. Teachers and staff are encouraged to contact the technology department if they experience problems that they suspect may be related to the new filter.
